After reviewing and learning a few new shapes, I passed out toothpicks and marshmallows to each student. They had to make some of the shapes (square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon). Then I gave directions such as; a shape with 1 triangle, 1 square, 4 right angles, 1 acute angle.... They should be able to show you a right angle, acute angle, obtuse angle, and say how many sides each of the above shapes have. Then I gave them experiment time and they came up with a lot!
This blog is intended for increased interaction between home and school for this upcoming 2009-2010 school year. I am very excited to be in the 3rd grade and working with you all at the new Legacy Elementary School http://www.legacyschoolaz.com
